PASTOR DEOLO TELLS OF HIS CALLING TO AIDS MINISTRIES

"My name is Marc Deolo Tonga. I am married and have four children. I am a pastor in the Evangelical Free Church of Congo.

When I received God into my life, I was a victim of AIDS. From 1989 to 1993, I lost both my parents and six brothers and sisters from AIDS. Through this experience, I decided to commit my life to the struggle against AIDS.

God called me to serve him in 1985, after I had finished secondary school. I attended Bangui Evangelical School of Theology in Central African Republic. While there, I was continually informing others and raising the awareness of HIV/AIDS through a radio station called NEHEMIE.

God helped me. I finished my studies and worked as pastor in different churches within my denomination. I was sent to Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, to work as a District Superintendent of our churches. This gave me opportunity to receive additional HIV training and take care of orphans.

All things are planned by God. AIDS tried to destroy my life, but at that time God started to prepare me for the future. Today, I have the big responsibility of directing our HIV/AIDS programs throughout the 900 local churches of the Evangelical Free Church of Congo. It is a huge job, so please pray for us."

GLOBALFINGERPRINTS PRAYER REQUESTS

Please pray faithfully for Pastor Deolo and other leaders within the Congolese Evangelical Free Church (EFCA). Pray for a team from EFCA churches that is currently visiting Congo. Led by Jim Snyder, director of EFCA TouchGlobal, the team will meet with the church in Congo and discuss plans for the Caring Center for Widows and Orphans, called the ELIKIA Project (meaning "hope" in Lingala).

When a woman loses her husband, she is left with little hope, often losing her home, land and many belongings. The church in Congo has a beautiful piece of land which widows are farming, and two buildings are presently under construction. Pray for wisdom for this team during their visit.
